As all ASU members will know from our meetings of members a fortnight ago we are endeavouring to make sure all wording in the new EBA is as watertight as possible before it comes back to you for the final formal vote.
I am disappointed to hear that the other employee group on site have put out a newsletter suggesting we are holding up the process because we are in dispute with Armaguard.
That is rubbish!!!
After some of the behaviour of management over the last few years NO ONE should hang the ASU for wanting the wording of the agreement to be correct. If the wording is not correct in the key areas it will come back to bite us.
There is no dispute however. There have been a series of cooperative exchanges with management about the wording.
Remember it was the ASU that insisted on getting the new wording into the EBA about Redundancy.
Other groups seemed to want to do the deal before the word “Redundancy” was even in the new agreement.
People should also remain cool on the matter of the backpay. It will always be there and it continues to build. It’s money in the bank for you.
The ASU is meeting with management next Wednesday to finalise the wording for the EBA to come out for the final vote.
Like we said one of the criticisms of past agreements has been the wishy washy wording that gives Armaguard management some wriggle room so ASU members should demand that we get as much of the wording right as possible in this EBA. That is EXACTLY what we are doing.
