ASU Fights for better and safer conditions
As you have no doubt heard, Stage 3 lockdowns have been reintroduced on Melbourne due to the recent break out of Covid-19. This will be extremely upsetting and frustrating for a lot of people.
Serco Call Centres are considered an essential services, which means you will be able to continue working. However taking hygiene and safety has never been more important.
That is why the ASU has today written to Serco calling on them to extend 14 days paid pandemic leave to all employees across all the contracts.
We have also called on the company to expand the Perspex screens and temperature testing they currently have at Mill Park to all Serco sites. Serco needs to take safety seriously. It is unfair that one group of workers receive some safety mechanisms where others do not.
The ASU will continue to fight for the rights of workers during this pandemic. If you’re not already a member, it’s never been more important to join the ASU. Join here
