A number of retired ASU members have recently got together and, with the support of the Union, formed the ASU Retired Members Group.
The group is still in its early planning stages but has already held two meetings in March and May of this year.
ASU Assistant Secretary David Leydon attended the May meeting where he displayed for the group an interesting sample of the Union archives, historical documents and large photo collection.
The group discussed at the May meeting some of the things it would like to get involved in including assisting with both ASU and wider Union movement campaigns and attending Union rallies and picket lines.
The Retired Members Group also see themselves considering and providing some commentary for the Union to consider on a range of matters affecting retiring workers including superannuation, redundancy and programs for retired workers to become involved in.
If you have retired from the workforce and want to maintain your contact with the Union why not consider coming to an ASU Retired Members Group meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for Friday 22 July , 2016 at 10.30am at the ASU Office, 116 Queensberry Street, Carlton South.
