The inquiry by the State Government as to whether long service entitlements could accrue as people change jobs was welcomed today by ASU Private Sector Branch Secretary, Ingrid Stitt.
“Gone are the days of people staying in the same job, or even the same organisation for life. People now change employment much more rapidly and as a result forego their long service leave provisions,” Ms Stitt said.
“The Minister for Industrial Relations, Natalie Hutchins, should be congratulated for taking an innovative approach and examining all aspects of whether transferring long service leave entitlements as people change jobs, is possible.”
“The ASU Private Sector branch will definitely contribute to the State Government inquiry and would love to hear from our members on the issue.”
Further details of the inquiry are yet to be announced, but will be posted on our website will an opportunity to provide feedback.
