Commission hearing for the AHSA agreement has been adjourned until 15 May 2017.
The Fair Work Commission asked all party’s to make themselves available this morning to have a brief conference via phone to determine the main issues to be discussed at tomorrow’s Commission hearing.
During this conference it became apparent that more time was required for the necessary evidence to be provided and exchanged between the parties. It was further acknowledged that the hearing would require more than the time permitted tomorrow afternoon, therefore the hearing date has been rescheduled to 15 May 2017.
Tomorrow’s Rally Cancelled.
Due to the Commission moving the hearing date the rally that was organised for 6 April has been cancelled.
This does not mean that we should take the pressure off Dnata or Emirates to have the AHSA agreement withdrawn prior to the hearing on 15 May.
Altara got the message!
There has been an important development over the last 24 hours with Altara (the labour hire company) withdrawing its application for the AGR EBA.
There is no doubt that Altara were feeling the heat and backed off due to the pressure that the ASU and our legal representatives put on them. Our lawyers acting on behalf of the ASU and you have been extremely busy sending correspondence to both Dnata and Altara advising them that we will pursue costs if they continue with their divisive behaviour.
Altara seem to have received that message loud and clear. Now we just need Dnata to wake up to itself and realise that the game is up. They should do the right thing and withdraw their AHSA EBA application – but if they don’t we are ready to fight.
Keep the pressure on
We must keep the pressure on Dnata, with this in mind and given the overwhelming positive response we got from the hundreds of people prepared to attend tomorrows rally we will most definitely organise another event in the very near future so that we can publicly highlight the despicable behaviour of Dnata and its owner Emirates.
Stay tuned for updates on when and where the next event will occur.
Once again thank you all for the overwhelming preparedness of members to attend tomorrows rally. There were so many people attending that we had to organise the police to block off Exhibition Street and we booked a truck with speakers so that we could be heard by the entire crowd.
We would also like to thank the many other unions from many industries that also agreed to attend the rally to show support for you. They understand that an attack on you is an attack on everyone.
Stay strong, stay united and we will defeat this attack on your conditions!
