On Thursday 6 April 2017 Dnata’s AHSA and Altara’s AGR substandard EBA’s are listed for a hearing in the Fair Work Commission. The battle lines are drawn!
This Thursday 6 April 2017 is a key time in determining whether or not the 2 new Agreements get approved by the Fair Work Commission.
Your Union, the ASU, will be ensuring that we throw every legal resource available to us in an attempt to knock these two sub-standard agreements off. The ASU has engaged Slater and Gordon who have a long history of fighting alongside Unions for working people.
There are no guarantees!
Unfortunately with every legal strategy available there are no guarantees that the Union can ensure that these Agreements never see the light of day. This is why we need your help and involvement at 1300 on Thursday 6 April.
We need you to come to the FWC.
The ASU needs as many people as possible to attend the Fair Work Commission hearing on Thursday 6 April at 1pm for a rally out the front.
Where: 11 Exhibition Street Melbourne
(between Flinders & Flinders Lane)
Date: Thursday 6 April 2017
Time: 1pm – 2pm
The best way to get there is to catch the train, get off at Flinders Street Station and walk 2 blocks along Flinders Street and turn left into Exhibition Street.
At this rally we will provide you with the most up to date information and send a loud message to the company (and the FWC) that we will not sit back and let these 2 companies strip away your terms and conditions of employment.
The future if AHSA and Altara get their way!
There is no doubt that AHSA (and Altara) will be a direct threat to working conditions for you and the broader airline industry.
It’s time to stand up and stop the unscrupulous behaviour from your employer and Altara. It’s time to fight back and tell them that what they have done is not acceptable.
Let’s not forget how we got here.
Your company, Dnata, attempted to sneak a dodgy, substandard EBA through the FWC without letting you or your Union know. They worked with Altara who lodged an identical Agreement.
We only know that Dnata and Altara attempted to do this because the ASU caught them out whilst perusing the listings in the FWC. Even when caught out Dnata tried to deny that it knew much about the Agreement at all and tried to play down its existence.
Do not forget, the sneaky underhanded way in which Dnata and Altara are attempting to circumvent your terms and conditions of employment and put at risk your current job. Their behaviour is nothing less than abhorrent and should be called out for exactly what it is.
Let us know if you can make it on Thursday.

Don’t get caught up in the Spin.
We understand that your CEO Daniella Marsilli has finally decided to make an appearance in Melbourne. Both Daniella and Brett Fuller are doing another round of roadshows in Melbourne on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 of April. Apparently they don’t have enough time to talk to everyone and interested people needed to put in an EOI and be selected to attend, what a joke!
Why are they coming back? Because they know you are strong and angry so they’re coming to try and convince you that slashing your terms and conditions is necessary for the future of Dnata.
They’ll tell you that they can’t compete because they are more expensive than their competitors but they will pick and choose what examples they give. Don’t be fooled by the spin. Maybe it is your Exec’s that need to be questioned as to why they seem to have the lack of skills to win contracts rather than slashing and burning your conditions.
What else has the ASU been doing?
The attack on your wages and conditions of employment at Dnata comes at a time when workers across many industries have had their wages and conditions attacked like never before.
There have been countless recent examples of wage theft exposed, as well as employers caught using restructuring and corporate trickery to undermine jobs and wages.
It’s just not on and the laws need to change!
The ASU has begun the process of making sure our law makers in Canberra understand what is happening at Dnata. This has involved briefing federal MP’s in those seats that most of you live in. Each MP the ASU has spoken to is very keen to meet with Dnata workers in their electorate and to support your fight. Our law makers need to understand that corporations are gaming the system and getting around our industrial relations protections far too easily.
Stay tuned for more details soon on how you can help in this effort.
