GMHBA employees are due for a pay rise! As of the 1st July you will receive a 3.5% pay increase. You’ll get it again next year and it’s all due to the terms and conditions of your enterprise agreement (EA) negotiated on behalf of union members by the Australian Services Union (ASU).
Given it’s pay rise time, we thought it’d be a good opportunity to celebrate just a few of the good conditions we enjoy thanks to a union negotiated agreement.
This endangered species isn’t seen in the majority of workplaces and is only really held onto in workplaces that have active union membership. It’s a great condition and you should enjoy it.
Paid Parental Leave
Becoming more and more known across workplaces, we were doing it for many agreements before it got popular. And so we should, it’s an important condition.
Job Security (Redundancy)
A big and very serious issue in the Geelong community right now. Having provisions that are better than the minimums is a good thing and gives that bit of extra security should we ever find ourselves in that situation.
Good penalties make working unsociable hours more acceptable. Again, here you’re doing better than the minimums and holding on to these is worth celebrating.
