Important ASU Bulletin, New Contracts
ASU members at Serco’s Services Australia contracts have been offered new fixed term contracts. Previously, the ASU has had concerns that Serco used “permanent casuals” to try and avoid employee entitlements. Serco now appears to be asking casual employees to accept Fixed Term Contracts, ending in August 2021.
The ASU has concerns that these contracts are an attempt to deprive employees of their rights to redundancy payments and protections from summary dismissal. Of great concerns to the ASU is the fact that employees are being asked to sign these contracts without being able to consult with their union.
The ASU is writing to Serco to raise these concerns directly.
Serco Call Centre employees are essential workers, and it’s time you were treated as such. The ASU is fighting for secure, permanent, ongoing roles for all Serco employees.
