Recent negotiations between Tabcorp & the ASU on September 2 revealed, if not the full detail, at least the general intention & direction of Tabcorp for the new enterprise agreement.
Points that previously hadn’t been dealt with in negotiations that were discussed in the Sept 2 meeting include;
- Sessional rates of pay;
- breaks and;
- redundancies
On breaks and redundancies not much at this point was put forward by Tabcorp except to say that they thought they would like to deal with those matters as part of the whole package.
Sessional rates of pay.
Tabcorp expressed great dissatisfaction with your existing pay structure. They are proposing to put forward a revamped sessional rates structure that they say will match up to a new classification structure, new ordinary hours of work and be ‘transparent’. We expect to be given more detail about this in another couple of weeks.
Although Tabcorp has a preference for hourly rates structures the company recognises that there is very little desire from the staff for such a structure.
The ASU is very cautious as to how this will play out in the long run, and we are committed to ensuring that any upheaval of your agreement’s terms and conditions is managed in such a way as to negate any negative impact to you, our members. Our claim, as per your instructions, is still to maintain your existing terms and conditions and only make changes and improvements where necessary.
Gearing up for Spring, Gearing up for changes
Spring Carnival is coming up so quickly. If Tabcorp are looking at big changes in your agreement then our communication as a union is imperative to ensuring the right action and decisions are taken collectively.
