As you are aware the ASU has demanded another meeting with senior management in relation to the parking arrangements post the move to T4, this meeting has been scheduled for this coming Thursday.
You don’t need to select an option yet.
Unfortunately to add confusion to the mix local management put out a communication yesterday advising staff that they had to make their selection by Monday 19 October 2015. THIS IS NOT CORRECT.
Maciek Zielinski who is the Jetstar senior employment relations advisor that the ASU is dealing with has written to us advising that members of the ASU do not yet need to make a selection until such time as we resolve our dispute. Until our dispute is resolved you can continue to park at Annandale Rd and catch the Qantas Group bus to terminal 1.
If the dispute is not resolved before your move to T4 we will be asking the company to look at interim arrangements for the additional time to travel between T1 and T4. You would hope that common sense would prevail in the meantime and that the company will take your valid concerns seriously.
Do not make a selection yet.
The ASU strongly advises that you do not submit an option to the company
regarding your preferred option until all issues have been addressed, that way you’ll then be able to make an informed decision based on any other options or proposals that may be considered during our discussions with management.
If you feel that you are being pressured locally to make a decision then call one of your delegates or the ASU immediately and respectfully refuse to complete any paperwork or discuss it further.
The ASU will keep you fully advised of any and all discussions and outcomes, do not feel pressured to lock into anything at this stage, regardless as to whether other groups such as the ramp have.
It’s time to get your workmates to join the ASU
The vast majority of your workmates are members of the ASU, if you know anyone that isn’t then please encourage them to join. It’s important that everyone sticks together. They can join online at www.asuvic.org.
