On Thursday 27 April, ASU representatives met with the 2 new Allegro board directors and Slater + Gordon senior management: CEO John Sommerville, Chief Legal Counsel and Chief People Officer.
Allegro told us that it is looking to invest to grow not shrink the business. Allegro and Slater + Gordon were able to confirm that they had:
- No plans for a hiring freeze
- No plans for redundancies through restructures
- No plans to let go of casual employees or increase casualisation outside of normal cycles
- No intention of using fixed term contracts as a way to shrink headcount
S+G and Allegro also committed to consulting with the ASU about job security for members as their plans for the business develop. ASU members will work together to hold Slater + Gordon and Allegro to account for these promises.
Slater and Gordon will be holding a Listening Tour to hear from employees and members. Members should attend those listening tour sessions and tell Allegro how to make Slater + Gordon the best possible place to work. We’ll provide further information on this once the dates and details are confirmed.
The ASU is by your side. We’ll do everything that we can to protect jobs and working conditions at Slater & Gordon. If you are not already a member, now is the time to join. You can join online here: www.asu.asn.au/asujoin.
