Virgin contacted the ASU late last week about Guest Services staff shortages. The Company did not anticipate reaching the number of hours of work that they currently have to cover until late 2021. For now, this is an issue that affects work in MEL, ADL & BNE but it could expand to other ports in January 2021. While the current situation in NSW is likely to add some additional challenges, management is still expecting staff shortages early in the new year.
We met with the Company on Monday to hear about some potential options to ensure that Guest Services work can be covered by Virgin employees, including another EOI for those on LWOP to return early. We are waiting on the final details from Virgin and will update members once we’ve seen their proposal.
