The ASU is happy to report that we have reached an in-principle agreement with Startrack for your new EBA. The ASU has worked to expedite the process to ensure that we were able to deliver you the best possible outcome with pay increases being payable as quickly as possible.
As you may be aware Startrack is a fully owned subsidiary of Auspost which has meant that negotiations were bound in part by the Government wages policy which is designed to minimise pay increases and strip back your EBA provisions that you have fought for and won in the past.
The ASU made it very clear from the outset that the Government should keep its nose out of determining your terms and conditions of employment and voiced our concerns about this.
Exemptions granted.
Representations were made to the relevant government bodies by Startrack which resulted in significant exemptions being given. This has enabled us to maintain all of your previous terms and conditions of employment in this EBA as well as delivering pay increases, bonus’s and access to a variety of other Auspost policies that will now be applied to Startrack employees.
What’s in the new EBA?
• 3 year agreement,
• 6% pay increase delivering a guaranteed 2% each year,
• Maintenance of existing conditions, including;
-12% Superannuation,
– Penalty Rates,
– Hours of work,
– Consultation,
– Redundancy,
– and much more.
•Keep all relevant allowances which will also increase over the life of EBA,
•Maintain former wages and allowances from the On Airport Business Development Agreement (AaE/ASU) 2011.
What else?
In addition to the annual pay increases there will be an additional payment made each year as follows;
A payment each year equivalent to 1% of your previous financial year’s pay ($250 minimum payable), so long as the Australia Post Group:
• achieves 94% delivery service performance
• makes a profit
The One Team Reward sits outside the EBA. It will be activated once the new Agreement is in place and will run for three years.
Family and domestic violence leave.
Startrack have agreed to apply Australia Post’s Family and domestic violence leave provisions to all employees in the event that any individual requires access to additional time off or support services.
In addition to any other leave entitlements there will be an additional 5 paid days made available for any individual that requires time off to deal with family and domestic violence related matters.
There is also an extensive policy detailing the available provisions and support services that are available to assist employees whilst dealing with such matters and we encourage employees to make themselves familiar with these policies if you require assistance.
Paid Parental Leave.
The Australia Post parental leave policy will now apply in conjunction with the provisions in your EBA.
This means that you will be able to access 14 weeks of paid parental leave at the beginning of your leave rather than the current 10 weeks with an additional 4 weeks on your return.
I’m sure we all agree that paid parental leave is more likely required at the birth or adoption of the child rather than after you return to work.
This is another significant gain for employees.
How do I vote?
Everyone covered by the Agreement is eligible to vote.
The vote will be conducted as an online secret ballot which will be managed independently by the Australian Election Company (AEC).
The vote will be anonymous, and conducted via electronic voting.
You will receive an email at your nominated email address from AEC with instructions on how to vote.
If you do not have a StarTrack email address, AEC will send the voting instructions to another email address for you that StarTrack has on file.
If StarTrack does not have an email address for you, AEC will mail voting instructions to your home address.
Voting can only be done online using any internet-enabled device.
Please tell your HR representative or Manager as soon as possible if you have changed your postal or email address.
ASU Recommends you vote Yes!
The ASU believes that this a fair and reasonable deal given the current circumstances and the limitations placed on bargaining by this pathetic federal government.
This EBA not only protects all of the fantastic provisions that were gained during the last EBA bargaining process but it also expands on beneficial policies provided by Australia Post as well as delivering wage increases well in excess of cost of living increases (CPI).
The ASU encourages everyone to vote and encourages and recommends that everyone should vote yes.
It is extremely important that you vote. With EBA’s they are accepted or rejected based on the number that people that vote.
For example if only 10 people vote and they all vote no, then nobody gets anything. Therefore make sure you vote yes so that this EBA gets approved so that the first pay increase and bonus payment may be paid prior to Christmas.
