ASU Members have had enough!
On Monday 17 November ASU members attended a series of briefings about the current state of the EBA negotiations.
After a full overview was given to all those in attendance it became very apparent that members were sick to death of the constant and continual delays that have occurred during the latest round of bargaining.
Members are frustrated by the fact that over the last 18 months we have effectively spent 14 months negotiating.
It was acknowledged that we did a short term agreement in December 2013 to assist the company to get its house in order so that we could re-enter discussions in April 2014 after there had been a proper and full assessment of the company and its capacity to properly and fairly negotiate a longer term agreement.
Toll Dnata have taken advantage
Unfortunately Toll Dnata have taken advantage of your good will. They have continually asked for extensions in time so that they could assess what would be a fair and reasonable offer to bring back to the table and to date they have failed to come back with a fair or satisfactory position.
What have members decided to do?
ASU members have unanimously endorsed a position to give the company one last opportunity to come back with a fair and reasonable offer.
ASU members have voted and clearly endorsed that the final position put by the Union to the company on 17 October should be our bottom line position and the company needs to take that position seriously and respond to it adequately or there would be potential consequences.
ASU members further endorsed that the ASU come back and do report back meetings to members after the meeting scheduled for this Thursday (20 November). They have clearly indicated that if there is not a satisfactory response then they will begin the necessary process to commence industrial action.
ASU members have not taken this position lightly, however, they are extremely frustrated by the current delays and lack of progress.
We hope that Toll Dnata will take you seriously and come back with a reasonable offer otherwise ASU members are determined to pursue their legal right to secure fair deal.
