As you would all be aware by now Dnata representatives have decided to attempt to bypass the union by putting the EBA out for a vote of employees without reaching agreement with the Unions.
Effectively this is saying to you that they no longer have an interest in negotiating with you or listening to anything that you have to say. What the company seems to have forgotten is that you are the union. By ignoring us at the negotiating table they are disregarding your issues, concerns and failing to take you seriously.
It is extremely unfortunate that Dnata have taken this approach, however it will give you the opportunity to send them a very clear message that the offer is not good enough and fails to recognise your issues and fails to provide you with back pay.
Vote NO
The ASU is recommending that you do not accept this agreement. You need to tell Dnata that you reject the EBA offer that they have put out by voting NO.
What do I need to do next?
It is our understanding that this is going to be a postal ballot vote which means that a ballot paper will be posted to your home. You must fill the ballot paper out and send it back via return post. The ASU is happy to help you if you have any questions or require assistance. If you do not receive your ballot paper by Wednesday 11 March please let your delegates know immediately.
The EBA will be accepted or rejected based on the number of people that vote. If you don’t vote you are leaving it to others to decide your future terms and conditions, if a small number of people vote yes and you don’t vote, then the agreement will go through and you will be stuck with the outcome for the next few years, so make sure you vote to have your voice heard.
If this agreement gets rejected by everyone voting no, we may then need to look at taking industrial action which has been unanimously endorsed at earlier members meetings. In the meantime you need to ensure that your personal details such as home address, emails and mobile numbers are up to date with the union. This will be important if we have to conduct a ballot for industrial action.
Most importantly stick together and send this company a very clear message that you are not happy with the level of contempt that you are being treated with.
If you’re not in the union you need to join.
