You should expect to work in a safe environment!
As you know the ASU has been campaigning for safer Call Centres and for Serco to take more pro-active measures to minimise the risk of Coronavirus.
Union members have been active in communicating with the Union and their co-workers about their concerns, and making sure Serco take health and safety seriously, and we thank you for it.
The ASU has been in communication with WorkSafe, who have performed multiple visits to the Mill Park site as well as Dandenong.
After intervention from the ASU, Serco have committed to cleaning stations at each site and providing extra break rooms to ensure social distancing at both Mill Park and Dandenong. Serco have also installed Perspex screens at Mill Park as a trial, if that trial is successful, we will be campaigning for the screens to be installed at all sites.
The ASU has also asked Serco to provide an update about the cleaning regimes at all sites. WorkSafe’s advice as the best way to avoid the risk of contracting Coronavirus was to perform a thorough clean of all stations daily.
The Mill park site will now turn keyboards upside down to indicate that the workstation has been thoroughly cleaned. The ASU is awaiting confirmation about the cleaning regimes at other sites and will pursue Serco to ensure the same level of cleanliness and safety for all staff.
If you have concerns about Safety, contact your Health and Safety Representatives or contact your Organiser John Weber at jweber@asupsvic.org or Charli Fouhy at cfouhy@asupsvic.org.
The only way to ensure that we achieve good outcomes is by increasing union membership. Now has never been a more important time to be a member of your Union. If you know someone that’s not a member, please encourage them to join. They can join online here, or by contacting John or Charli using the above details.
